Carpets and Textiles are like a fresco in which history, art and cultural patterns from the East and the West blend.

 

The preciousness of materials and the figurative intent with which these objects are conceived, make them a furniture element that, from ancient times until today, boasts the interest of a niche of enthusiastsThe fine catalogue proposal of carpets, tapestries, textiles, laces and fine fabrics, goes through the centuries to compose new pages of market and elegance.

 


 

On the occasion of the Old Master Paintings and Furniture auction held on March 26, 27, and 28, the Carpets and Textiles department stood out for a remarkable recovery in the sector and for an excellent performance achieved for historical and rare pieces: over € 100,000 in total sold, 93% of lots sold, and a 350% increase in reserve prices.

 

A particular mention for the five fragments of Ushak carpet from the 1500-1600s, an important testimony to the history of oriental carpets, named "Lotto" because similar specimens were found within the works of the Venetian painter of the same name (lot 639, sold for € 27,760); and also the rare Kirman carpet from the workshop of HAJJI QAMAR (?) ALI KIRMAN, made to celebrate the end of World War I around 1919-1920 (lot 658, sold for € 27,760).
The list continues with other notable acquisitions for manufacturing and origins, which are very diverse but capable of capturing the attention of enthusiasts. Among these stand out a small collection of Anatolian carpets such as the 18th-century Bergama (lot 73, sold for € 11,340) and the 19th-century Konya (lot 262, sold for € 6,300); as well as the extensive offering of elegant 19th-century Aubusson carpets (lot 309, sold for € 3,780).
Among the most appreciated Persian carpets are two specimens from the 19th century, including the Ferahkan-Sarouk (lot 644, sold for € 5,670) and the Keshan Mohtashem (lot 420, sold for € 2,520). Also noteworthy is the renewed interest in the field of textiles, where amidst precious fabrics and meticulous embroideries, the sale of the Burano lace tablecloth stands out (lot 176, sold for € 2,142).
