SEUTTER, Georg Matthaus (1678-1757) - Atlas novus sive tabulae geographicae totius orbis faciem. Habsburg: Matthaus Seutter, [ca. 1730-50]. A copy in fine contemporary colouring of Seutter's celebrated atlas which was first published in 1720 with only 16 maps. Among the most important plates are the worldmap and the maps of the continents all in good conditions. California is always depicted as an island and both the colouring and the impression are of good quality. Allegorical title, two text leaves and 50 double-page maps, all in contemporary colouring, index of the 30 plates applied on the verso of the second text leaf on top of an older index of 50 plates (modern guards, occasional light spotting). 19th-century half vellum over marbled boards (modern guards, lightly rubbed).".
