OVIDIO, Publio Nasone (43 a.C.-17? d.C.) - De Fastis cum duobus commentariis. A cura di Bartholomaeus Merula, con i commenti di Paolo Marso e Antonio Costanzi. Venice: Johannes Tacuinus, de Tridino, 1497. A good copy in contemporary boards of the editio princeps of this renown classic text. Various copies are present in libraries, but it is rare on the market: there are no copies registered at auction since 1968 (RBH). Folio (309 x 210mm). Title with woodcut vignette with the portrait of Ovid among its commentators, woodcut initials, large printer's device at end (some small occasional wormholes, minimal traces of dust, slight waterstaining at the outer margin of few final leaves, without final blank). Contemporary wooden boards (rebacked, new endpapers and ties). Provenance: Nicola Gualtieri (inscription dated 1707 at the end).
