Amsterdam: Bernard, 1723-39.   A fine copy which also includes the supplements of this important encyclopedic collection dedicated to the religious rites of all peoples and accompanied by numerous finely engraved plates.   8 parts in 9 volumes, folio (390 x 245mm). Half-titles, titles printed in red and black, 244 (of 250) plates of which several folding: first volume, 28 (of 29, no. 25 is missing); second, 33; third, 17 (of 19, n. 4,7 are missing); fourth, 13; fifth, 24; sixth, 45; seventh, 57 (of 58, n.5 is missing); seventh second part, 5; eighth, 22 (of 24, n.9 and 9 are missing in the second part), headpieces and illustrations in text (some browning and occasional staining). Contemporary calf with decorations and title in gold on covers and spine, with gilt exlibris of the Marquis of Bouzols, marbled endpapers (slight defects and small chips).
