The renown Sansovino edition also called the "Edizione del Gran Naso" due to the striking portrait, and the first to print the commentaries of Landino and Vellutello together. The woodcuts are those used for Marcolini's edition of 1544, but the portrait was printed for the first time in this edition.   Folio (311 x 211mm). Portrait of the author within an elaborate border on title, 96 woodcut illustrations in text and initials (first leaves with small expert restorations at the edges that repair some previous wormholes, occasional light staining, sporadic light browning and foxing, P2 with small repair at the bottom corner that touches the final words of the page). 18th-century speckled calf with double blind-stamped fillet border on covers, spine in 5 compartments with title in gilt on red label and gilt floral decorations, speckled edges (few minor defects). Provenance: some early underlining and marginalia - an inscription dated February 1807 on the final flyleaf.
