MAZZOLINI DA PRIERO, Silvestro (1456-1523) - Sylvestrinae Summae. Anti: Christophe Plantin, 1569.   An edition by the renowned Flemish printer Christophe Plantin containing the fortunate work of the theologian Silvestro Mazzolini, Master of the Sacred Palace under Pope Leo X, printed for the first time in 1514. In this work the author addresses in alphabetical order more than 700 questions of theology, especially sins and heresies, including witchcraft.   2 volumes, 4to (250 x 185mm). Printer's device on title, engraved initials, illustrations in the second volume (in the first volume light wear on the bottom margins of few pages not touching text, very little wormtrace to the inner margins of gatherings Gg and Hh not touching text; in the second volume wormtraces to endpapers; in both volumes some spotting, browning and staining). Contemporary vellum with blindstamped decorations (lacking ties, defects). Provenance: Alessandro Poggio (ownership inscription from 1578 in the first volume) - Carolus Antonio de Herculanis (ownership inscription on titles) - some contemporary annotations and underlining.
