TASSONI, Alessandro (1565-1635) - La Secchia poema eroicomico d'Androvinci Melisone. Paris: Toussaint Dubray [ma Venezia], 1622.   A Venetian forgery printed at the same time as the Parisian edition and based on the second edition from which it is distinguished by the mention of the author's name in the preface. The work is about the war that broke out between Bologna and Modena. The aim was to make fun of the rivalry between the two cities, but the ecclesiastical censorship prevented publication in Padua and forced the author to seek the help of Jean Chapelain, a collaborator of Marino who oversaw the printing of the first edition in Paris.   12mo (133 x 75mm). Printer's device on title, engraved initials and headpeces (occasional browning, a small wormtrack in the final leaves touching a few letters). Modern calf with gilt decorations on spine and on covers.
