The translation and commentary of the Latin text is by Madame Anne Dacier (1647-1720), a famous French philologist and translator. 3 volumes, 8vo (160 x 90mm). Engraved frontispiece and one engraved plate in the first volume, engraved headpieces. Late 19th-century red morocco signed Hardy-Mennil on inlays, with gilt fillets and decorations on plates, gilt decorations and title on spine, gilt inlays, marbled endpapers, gilt edges.
