CARUSO, Enrico (1873-1921) - Interessante serie di lettere e caricature del celebre cantante lirico fra cui: -   An interesting series of letters and caricatures of the renowned opera singer including:.   1) large caricature of Caruso who portrays himself as he emerges from a bottle with the label "amaro fatus", signed by the tenor. One sheet (326 x 216mm). On the verso in pencil "Cav. A. Stefani." 2) Caruso's letter dated May 17, 1910 written from the Grand Hotel in Paris in which he makes a pun on "fools" and "madness" signing at the end "The mad Enrico Caruso". The letter begins with "I am sending you six leaflets witnesses of the madness that has made me mad". One sided letter (252 x 194mm) 3) caricature of Caruso by Melzi d'Eril dated Paris 1910 and signed by the artist. One sheet (145 x 105mm). 4) large format caricature of Caruso dated Milan 1915. A double self-portrait of the tenor who draws himself in civilian clothes and in a mask. One sheet (330 x 205mm). 5) letter from Caruso to Marziale Sisca sent from the Hotel Cecil in London and dated 28 July 1908. The tenor addresses his friend in sad tones, lamenting a bad moment in his life in which "no affection exists for me at all world". "My poor heart so rudely broken". 6) caricature dated 1908 on one sheet (238 x 175mm) 7) caricature dated 1908 on one sheet (210 x 125mm) 8) letter from Antonio Scotti (1866-1936) from the Savoy Hotel in London to Marziale Sisca dated 1922. The tenor, an intimate friend of Caruso, describes his travels to his dear friend and seems happy to go to Venice, but even more of his plans to go to southern Italy: "the beautiful Naples!! I swear I have the fever to go to Italy". Speaking of his journey aboard the ship, he says instead of having been treated very well, of having received a flower instead of the bill for all his dinners at the Ritz restaurant and then speaks of an American girl he met who, he underlines, "treated me as a true friend!!". Letter on 3 sides (215 x 139mm). 9) letter from Caruso from the Hotel Vittoria to Marziale Sisca dated 1921. 10) caricature with self-portrait from 1913 11) caricature with a portrait of M.
