Milan: Ricordi, [ca.1914].   An important collection of posters printed by Officine Ricordi between 1895 and 1914 and excecuted by the masters of advertising illustration of the time such as Dudovich, Mazza, Beltrame, Mellikovitch etc. The set consisted of 70 small lithographic plates of Ricordi's greatest posters printed between 1895 and 1914. It was sold commercially in Italy, England, Germany, France and the United States.. Much like the famous "Masters of the Poster" series created by Chéret in Paris, this portfolio celebrated the rise of the poster - which in Italy was almost singlehandedly accomplished by Ricordi" (www.internationalposter.com).   Oblong folio (265 x 360mm). 70 plates illustrating posters in very good conditions (very light soiling, 4 missing introduction pages - sometimes present in other editions).
