ADAM, Victor (1801-1867) - Museo del cacciatore, o Collezione di tutte le specie di selvaggina di pelo o di piuma che si cacciano coll’archibugio. Venice: Giuseppe Antonelli, 1844.   First Italian edition with plates in vivid and strong handcolouring and brushed with gum arabic. It is one of the most fascinating Italian hunting books of the 19th-century translated from the French original of 1838. The plates, partly signed by Giuseppe Hennert after drawings by Nardello, Azzola and Capello, depict hundreds of species of game, each indicated with its own name and inserted in its own natural environment.   8vo (265 x 175mm). Half-title, 72 numbered lithographic plates, elegantly coloured at the time, brushed with gum arabic and protected by tissue paper, error in pagination from p. 360 (some foxing and sporadic stains, minimal defects to a few plates). Brown percalline, gilt title on spine (some wear).
