GIANNOTTI, Donato (1492-1573) - Libro de la Republica de Vinitiani. Rome: Antonio Blado, 1540.   The Venetian pirate edition, in 8vo and composed of only 100 leaves, not to be confused with the original Roman edition printed in 4to in July 1540, with 108 leaves and an engraved plate, depicting the Grand Council room. Giannotti himself complained of this forgery in a letter to Pietro Vettori dated October 26, 1540. Consequently, the present edition can be dated between July and October of the same year. Brunet II, 1585.   8vo (152 x 98mm). (Some foxing and minor staining). Contemporary limp vellum, manuscript title on spine (defects). Provenance: Baldinotti (early ownership inscription).
