[MANOSCRITTO OTTOMANO] - Libro di preghiera ottomano firmato da Mehmet Sadeq Bekazizadeh e datato 1201 (i.e. 1786-1787 d.C.). A fine illuminated Ottoman manuscript dated 1201 (i.e. 1786-1787 AD) and signed by Mehmet Sadeq Bekazizadeh, a student of Hajj Hafez Mehmet Efendi. It is a compilation of prayers dedicated to the Prophet Muhammad, a well-known sacred work in Sunni Islam. With two interesting full-page images of Mecca and Medina, the two holiest places in Islam. 8vo (168 x 109mm). Islamic manuscript on paper composed of 74 leaves within a double gilt and decorated border, two full-page miniatures depicting Mecca and Medina, two finely decorated incipits, numerous other decorations indicating the different sections of the text, marginal annotations in red (some soiling and foxing, a leaf teared in the corner with small loss of the decorated border). Contemporary dark calf decorated in gilt, pink endpapers, remains of gilt edges (some rubbing and chipping). Provenance: small illegible circular stamp on first leaf and in the margin of another - few annotations.
