ARETINO, Pietro (1492-1556) - Il Genesi. Venice: Francesco Marcolini, 1539.   Second edition of Aretino's work printed by Marcolini in Venice the previous year. Some copies can be traced in Italian libraries, but there have been only a handful of occasions to purchase one on the market and no copy has been registered as having been offered at auction since 1970 (RBH).   8vo (155 x 97mm). Woodcut portrait of the author on title, printer's device at the end (guard that joins the title with the endpaper a little detached, minimal staining, E1 lightly shorter at bottom margin, X2-Y3 with a tiny wormrtack at bottom corner). Contemporary calf decorated with a double blindstamped border and in gilt (restored at the joints, covers, spine and corners, rather serious defects).
