[BIBBIA] - WEIGEL, Christoph (1654-1725) - Historiae celebriores Veteris Testamenti iconibus repraesentatae. Nuremberg: s.n., s.d. [1708/1712?].   A monumental collection of engravings made mostly by Jan (1649-1712) and Caspar Luyken and based on Weigel's drawings to illustrate the Old and New Testaments. Under each depiction the respective biblical passages in Latin and German are engraved.   Folio (400 x 275mm). Engraved title, 251 engraved plates (browning, second leaf partially detached, occasional marginal stains and little tears touching the engraving in one plate, tear due to damp in the lower margin of three leaves, waterstain at title's margin and on the final leaves). Contemporary calf, blindstamped decorations and title on spine (wear especially at joints and at the extremities, tiny stains and chipping). Some copies on the market contain a higher number of plates but most are described with 251 in addition to the engraved title.
