Born in Antwerp in 1651, Arnold van Westerhout learned the elements of his art in his native country, but completed his education in Italy, and worked in Florence before establishing himself in Rome in 1700 where his career as engraver, painter and designer continued until his death in 1725.   4to oblongo stampato in verticale (200 x 270mm). Engraved title within border and 11 plates each containing the caricatures of different characters intent on various actions of daily life (some staining heavier on title and on a few plates). Modern decorated boards, gilt title on red morocco spine label.
