Milan: Joachin Bettalli, [1764?, ma tiratura successiva 1790?].   First edition, third impression (titled "Suite Des Vases" and printed in Milan), of this important work. A good copy on thick paper with excellent impressions of the splendid plates; the engraved dedication bears the date of 1764, but it is probably a slightly later edition although SBN reports the date of 1764. "[The work] stands out for both beauty and imagination among the numerous sets of ornamental prints published during the 18th century" (William Cole).   Folio (442 x 307mm). Engraved title, illustrated second title and 31 engraved full-page numbered plates, including a dedication plate to Marchese di Felino; as in other copies printed in Milan there are no unillustrated dedications (marginal spotting on first title, occasional lighter marginal spotting). Later blue half calf, blue cloth titled in gilt (modern endpapers, minor flaws). Most of the copies sold at the auction are described as having been printed in Parma by Bossi, while this copy is presumably printed in the same year in Milan.
