[CACCIA] - CARCANO, Francesco [SFORZINO] (ca. 1500-1580) - Tre libri de gli uccelli da preda. Venice: Gioliti, 1587.   First edition of the famous treatise on falconry by Francesco Carcano. The work had enormous success and became a point of reference for falconers: the author, a member of the Milanese nobility, dedicated himself to this activity and used to regularly take care of his falcons. The treatise examines the best species of birds of prey for hunting, the tools to be used for their care and how to train them. A further 18th-century work on hunting is added to the lot.   8vo (140 x 95mm). Printer's device on title and at the end, woodcut headpieces and initials, a woodcut illustration (lacking leaf A3, without the two final blank, two ink stains on title not touching text, a light tiny waterstain at the lower margin of the first gatherings, small waterstains at gathering O, tiny paper flaw that touches a few letters at I-I2, light browning). 19th-century binding with leather spine, gilt decorations and title on spine (front cover and spine detached from textblock, rubbing). Provenance: contemporary illegible ownership inscription at the endpaper.   [WITH:] - Abrégé portatif de la chasse du cerf. Turin: Honoré Derossi, 1782. 8vo (145 x 85mm). (Light browning). Contemporary speckled calf, gilt decoration and title on spine, red speckled edges (light rubbing). Provenance: Libreria antiquaria C.E. Bourlot Torino (bookseller's label at endpaper). (2)
