Bologna: Istituto delle Scienze, 1786.   An uncut copy of the Bolognese edition which contains this three fundamental works for the history of art, accompanied by 19 finely engraved and abundantly inked chalcographic plates. The edition is based on the princeps edited by the French art historian Raphaël Trichet du Fresne (1611-1661) and is complete with his two biographies of the artists.   Folio (390 x 255mm). Engraved vignette on title, an engraved headpiece with the portrait of Leonardo da Vinci and one with the portrait of Alberti, 19 engraved plates (waterstaining throughout, upper corner of title restored, occasional light spotting and soiling). Contemporary boards, modern manuscript title on spine, uncut (rebacked, light rubbing).
