Padua: Tipografia del Seminario, 1799.   An uncut copy of the first and only edition of this mummography work, extremely rare on the market and auctioned for the last time in 1989. This is the study of the mummy from the collection of the Marquis Tommaso degli Obizzi, depicted in two fascinating folding plates at the end of the volume. The author was a Carmelite friar, a missionary and a talented connoisseur of history and oriental languages, which he taught for years at the College of Propaganda Fide in Rome.   Folio (315 x 223mm). Engraved vignette on title, woodcut decorations, 2 engraved folding plates at the end (browning, some soiling, light waterstain in gatherings d and g, tiny marginal wormtrack at the final two leaves). Modern decorated paper, uncut (light rubbing and small wears).
