DOLCE, Lodovico (1508-1568) - L'Ulisse tratto dall'Odissea d'Homero. Venice: Gabriel Giolito de' Ferrari, 1573.   An elegant octave translation of the Odyssey by de Dolce, in the fine illustrated edition by Gabriele Giolito de' Ferrari. It also contains at end "The Battle of the Mice and the Frogs", a version of the Homeric Batracomiomachy.   8vo (207 x 150mm). Printer's device on title, another at colophon, a large full-page woodcut portrait of Dolce within medallion, illustrations at the beginning of each canto, initials and headpieces (title with some dampstaining continuing slightly in the first leaves, occasional browning and spotting). Half vellum from the 18th-19th century, label with title on spine, speckled edges (minimal rubbing). Provenance: Francesco Radaeli Bredford rare books Lugano (bookseller's ticket).
