The work is inspired by a bizarre discovery that took place in 1564 on the banks of the Rhone: two peasants noticed large bones emerging from the ground and it was after examining them that Chassanion began to be interested in the origin and disappearance of these beings.   8vo (150 x 95mm). Woodcut initials (light browning). Contemporary blindstamped pigskin (small wormholes to endpapers, some light spotting, minimal defects).
