PLOTINO (204/5 - 270 a.C.) - De rebus philosophicis libri LIII. In enneades sex distributi, à Marsilio Ficino Florentino è Graeca lingua in Latinam versi [..]. Basel: Thoman Guerinum, 1562.   A good margined copy of the edition of the works of the founder of Neoplatonism translated by Marsilio Ficino (1433-1499), who had already edited the Florentine edition in 1492. The translation of this copy was published for the first time in Basel in 1559; it is based on the old translation, but enriched and revisited thanks to the comparison with an ancient Greek manuscript by Domenico Montesoro from Verona.   Folio (310 x 200mm). Printer's device on title, woodcut initials (wormtracks to outer margin until gathering e, final gatherings almost completely detached, browning, foxing). Contemporary vellum, manuscript title on spine (lacking ties, stains, rubbing and chipping on spine). Provenance: Jo. Hieroniimi Cascitii Gent. ad usum (contemporary ownership inscription on endpaper).
