BOSCH, Jacob (1631-1705) - Symbolographia sive de arte symbolica. Augusta: Johann Kaspar Bencard, 1701.   An interesting work which belonged to deacon and preacher Hieronymus Scholtz and dedicated to German emblematics. This edition, in full baroque style, constitutes a precious source for studies on seals and exlibris. The numerous engraved plates are made by Jacob Müller and J. G. Wolffgang after J. C. Schalck's drawings.   Folio (387 x 240mm). Half-title, engraved frontispiece with portrait of the author, title with engraved vignette, engraved and woodcut headpieces, woodcut initials, decorations and tail pieces, 171 engraved plates (first two gatherings with reinforcements to inner margin, half-title with further restorations and tears, final two gatherings with marginal restorations, plate XIX from the third series with marginal tear not touching engraving, waterstaining, foxing and browning heaver to first two gatherings). 19th-century quarter-calf, gilt titles and decorations on spine, modern red edges (light wear).
