[CARAVIA, Alessandro (1503- 1568)] - Naspo Bizaro. Venice: Michele Bonibelli, 1595.   A very rare edition of the work of the Venetian jeweler Alessandro Caravia, published for the first time in 1565. This folk poem in Venetian dialect is made up of "calate", strophes "declaimed with great breath, until they become a real cantilena; a genre especially widespread among gondoliers" (L. Zorzi). Serenades, therefore, that the old Naspo sings at the window of his beloved Caterina, only to later repent of their marriage: the title of the last song is in fact "Lamento che'l fa per haverse pentio de aver sposato Cate Bionda Briota".   12mo (130 x 75mm). Printer's device on title, collation: A-K8, L6 (small marginal wormtrack at the first gathering barely touching text, small paperflaws at leaves L1-L2 touching few letters, light browning). Contemporary vellum (tiny wormholes on spine, light rubbing).
