ESCHINE (389-314 a.C.) - DEMOSTENE (384-322 a.C.) - Due orationi l'una di Eschine contra di Tesifonte, l'altra di Demosthene a sua difesa. Venice: eredi di Aldo, 1554. First and only aldine translation into vernacular Italian of these two orations, translated by Girolamo Ferro (1509-1561), Venetian statesman. Aeschines pronounced his oration against Ctesiphon who wanted to reward Demosthenes with a crown for the services rendered to the city. Demosthenes then formulated a speech in his defense, the renowned oration "For Ctesiphon, on the crown". 8vo (145 x 96mm). Printer's device on title (without the blanks O3-4 not present in the copies on the market, spotting, light browning). Later vellum, manuscript title on spine, speckled edges (very light rubbing).
