[BINDING] - Canon Missae. Rome: Camera Apostolica, 1621.   An elegant binding in richly decorated red morocco that belonged to Cardinal Bernardino Spada. He was a great patron and supporter of artists, his art collection can still be admired today in Rome at the splendid Galleria Spada housed in the eponymous Palazzo.   Folio (355 x 240mm). Title in red and black within an elaborate engraved border, woodcut initials and headpieces, full-page engraved illustrations (B4 and B13 with a small tear touching the engraving and text, some staining and foxing). Contemporary red morocco with the arms of Bernardino Spada, richly gilt decorated with floral motifs on spine and covers (minimum wear at the extremities and some small restorations on spine). Provenance: Cardinal Bernardino Spada (arms on covers) - several contemporary annotations.
