Lugduni Batavorum: ex officina Elzevir, 1629-21.   An elegant lot of books published by Elzevir in uniform bindings comprising three volumes of OVID's work printed in 1629 and a volume of TACITUS published in 1621.   2 works in 4 volumes, 24mo (124 x 73mm). Both works with engraved frontispieces, woodcut initials, calendar in the third volume of Ovid printed in red and black (light browning and occasional staining, two pages of Tacitus glued together). Uniform Dutch armorial vellum, with the initial P and dark spine labels in the Ovid volumes (without ties, some stains and minor rubbing). Provenance: Welbeck Abbey (bookplate in Ovid's work) - De Beneuille? (early ownership inscription on title of Tacitus). (4)
