Parma: Stamperia di S.A.S., 1717.   A magnificent book of celebrations on the wedding of King Philip of Spain (1683-1746), with his second wife Elizabeth (1692-1766), last descendant of the Farnese family who had reigned over Parma and Piacenza since 16th century. The five folding plates, designed by Ilario Spolverini and engraved by Giovanni Battista Sintes and Francesco Maria Francia, depict the procession of the groom and Cardinal Gozzadini, the elaborate decorations inside the cathedral, the wedding ceremony and the plan of Parma's cathedral.   Folio (315 x 215mm). Engraved frontispiece, woodcut initials, 5 engraved folding plates (occasional staining heavier in G4, plates with some tears in correspondence with folds and restorations, some soiling and foxing). Contemporary speckled calf, gilt decorations on spine, speckled edges (some scuffing and some losses on spine).
