[BINDING] - LEMEAU DE LA JAISSE, Pierre (1689-1745) - Carte générale de la monarchie françoise. Paris: s.n., 1733.   A precious copy in contemporary red Morocco, which was the complimentary copy given to Carlo di Borbone (1716-1788), Duke of Parma and Piacenza with the name Carlo I from 1731 to 1735, King of Naples and Sicily without numbering (he was Carlo VII according to the papal investiture, but never used that ordinal) from 1735 to 1759, and from this year until his death, King of Spain with the name Carlos III. The work features an engraved frontispiece by Cochin, views of Paris, Versailles, Invalides drawn by Milcent and engraved by Rigault, plates representing the 110 strongholds and cities by Coquart. The Map of France, dedicated to the King by the renowned geographer Guillaume Delisle in 1721, has the borders of the various departments watercoloured.   Folio (500 x 340mm). Typographic title with engraved decorations and a large folding engraved allegorical title, 17 engraved plates, including 2 folding and a map (some light browning and waterstaining, some small tears sometimes restored along the fold of the plates, small wormhole to upper margin of some leaves). Contemporary red morocco with arms of Carlo Sebastiano di Borbone as Duke of Parma, title on label, rich gilt decorations on spine and covers, gilt edges, marbled endpapers (some stains and scuffing, especially on rear cover, minor restorations). Provenance: Carlo Sebastiano di Borbone (coat of arms on covers) - 12:00 1832 Feye? (ancient ownership inscription on final blank).
