ZOMPINI, Gaetano (1700-1778) - Le arti che vanno per via nella città Venezia. Venice: 1785 [ma tiratura del secolo XIX].   A good 19th-century copy of the most extensive work on the popular customs of Venice at the end of the 18th century, whose plates depict Venetian itinerant professions set in various places in the city. Each plate is also accompanied by captions in Venetian dialect.   Folio (376 x 265mm). Engraved title and plate index, 60 numbered engraved plates (lacking the plate containing the Memoir and half-title, plate 14 with tear to upper blank corner touching engraving, caption of plate 6 faded and illeggible, light foxing and occasional soiling). 20th-century half-calf, gilt decorations and title on spine (rubbing and scratches at spine and corners). Provenance: "In spe offendere nescit. Elia" (armorial bookplate at endpaper).
