Rome: Giovanni Zempel, 1774.   An interesting archaeological-themed work of large format and wide margins, with important provenance: the coat of arms on the plates belongs to Joaquin Gomez de la Cortina (1805-1868), one of the most recognized Spanish bibliophiles.   Folio (383 x 252mm). Engraved vignette on title, engraved headpiece and initial, an engraved plate from another work entitled "Marmoreus antiqui operis sarcophagus" (light repaired scratch to plate, very light browning). 19th-century long grain burgundy morocco with the arms of Joaquin Gomez within triple gilt fillet on the plates, gilt decorations on dentelle, marbled endpapers with coat of arms (light rubbing at the extremities and tiny scratches). Provenance: Joaquin Gomez de la Cortina (bibliophile).
