OVIDIO, Publio Nasone (43 a.C. - 17 o 18 d.C.) - Le metamorfosi di Ovidio ridotte da M. Gio. Andrea dall'Anguillara in ottava rima. Venice: Bernardo Giunta, 1592.   A copy in fin contemporary binding, made by the Soresini workshop, with the arms of Lodovico Facchinetti, son of Marquis Cesare Facchinetti and brother of Pope Giovanni Antonio Facchinetti (Innocent IX). In 1584, Giovanni Andrea dell'Anguillara published an edition of Ovid's works, enriched with engravings by Giacomo Franco. In 1592, Giunti republished the text, dedicating it to the King of France and modifying the frontispiece and the dedication letter, keeping the date of 1583. The illustrations were copied and reused, with some changes to the woodcut borders.   4to (232 x 170mm). Printer's device on title, woodcut initials, headpieces, and decorations, woodcut illustrations (some waterstaining, occasional spotting, and browning). Contemporary limp vellum with the Facchinetti arms, manuscript title and gilt decorations on spine, double gilt fillet and coat of arms on covers, blue edges (slight losses on spine, some light stains, without ties). Provenance: Contemporary ownership inscription anciently erased on title - a contemporary annotation.
