[VOCABOLARI] - PIPINO, Maurizio (1739-1788) - Vocabolario piemontese. Turin: Stamperia Reale, 1783.   An interesting lot dedicated to the Piedmontese language, comprising the works of the doctor Pipino, which form "una triade di opere significative per la vita culturale della regione" (Clivio, "La letteratura piemontese dalle origini al Risorgimento", p. 390). The "Vocabolario" aimed to give Piedmontese a precise structure, with particular attention to the most common voices of the language, and the "Grammatica" is the first ever published of the Piedmontese dialect. It aimed to normalize the Piedmontese spelling to encourage its use as a written as well as spoken language.Together with another renown Piedmontese dictionary by Zalli dictionary, which provides the semantic rendering of the terms not only in Italian, but also in Latin and French.   8vo (189 x 115mm). Half-title, title with engraved coat of arms of the dedicatee, woodcut initials and decorations (some light staining and foxing, some wormtracks to lower margin starting from gathering F). Engraved portrait of Maria Adelaide on frontispiece and coat of arms on title of the first two works, engraved vignette on title of the third, half-titles for the second and third volumes, woodcut initials and decorations (second work without final blank, gathering B of the third work incorrectly marked A, some light waterstaining, foxing and browning). Contemporary red calf, titles on label and gilt decorations on spine, speckled edges, cloth endpapers (faded spine, some wear).   [And:] - ZALLI, Casimiro (N. 1754).
