DURY, Andrew - Il portafoglio necessario a tutti quelli che fanno il giro d'Italia. Londra: Andrew Dury, 1774.   A fascinating publication, very difficult to find on the market, complete with colour folding plates and published in London by Dury, perhaps on the model of Carlo Barbieri's work published in 1771 in Bologna. This is a guide to the mail stations along the main Italian itineraries, depicted in detail together with the rivers, cities and coasts encountered along the way. The indications regarding taverns and hotels are extremely curious, sometimes accompanied by honest judgments regarding their quality.   4to (186 x 123mm). Text in French and Italian, 27 watercoloured engraved plates, including a general map of the Italian post office (restorations to external margin of plate no. 9 lightly touching the engraving, small tear to external margin of engraving of plate no. 21, browning, occasional foxing). Contemporary red morocco, phytomorphic gilt border on covers, rich gilt decorations and title on spine, gilt dentelles, marbled endpapers (light rubbing especially to spine and extremities).
