[DANTE] - Dante Estense. Ms a.R.4.8. Scarmagno: Priuli & Verlucca, 1995.   A reproduction of the a.R.4.8 codex bearing the Divine Comedy commissioned by the Este family and created between 1380 and 1390. Dante's work was completely transcribed for the first time in this manuscript. The three parts are opened by a full-page miniature and each page is embellished with elegant miniatures and illustrations of the text in the upper margin. On the final page was the solar symbol of Louis XIV of France. Under Napoleon, the codex was brought to the National Library of Paris, but it was brought back to Italy in 1816 at the request of the Duke of Modena.   (350 x 255mm). Copy no. 348 of 500. Detailed colour reproduction of the original codex. Leather binding with gilt decorations and the arms of the Este family. With the commentary volume.
