ALLIONI, Carlo (1728-1804) - Rariorum Pedemontii stirpium specimen primum. Turin: Zappata e Avondu, 1755.   A rare and uncut copy of this very interesting work by the young Allioni, published 30 years before the his renown Flora pedemontana and complete with the 12 large-format plates. Only very few copies recorded on RBH.   4to (278 x 21mm). Title in red and black with woodcut vignette, woodcut head-and-tail pieces, 12 engraved folding plates, plates I-IIII, VI, XI-XII after Francesco Peiroleri, plates VIIII-X after Francesco Peiroleri and engraved by Pietro Peiroleri, plate VII engraved by Giovanni Brun (without first blank, light browning and foxing). Contemporary boards backed in later cloth, paper label with title on spine (somewhat worn). Provenance: Kenneth K. Mackenzie (bookplate dated 1834) - R. Friedlander & Sohn (bookseller's label, Berlin).
