Lyon: eredi di Sebastiano Griffo, 1562.   First edition of this work by Contarini, Venetian diplomat and humanist. In 1453 he was sent by the Serenissima to Siena during the ongoing war with Florence. He followed and carefully described all the phases of the conflict and negotiations that preceded the signing of the Treaty of Lodi in 1454, then writing the events he witnessed in this work.   Second part only, 4to (233 x 150mm). Printer's device on title, woodcut headpieces and initials (marginal restorations on title, marginal wormtracks from gathering n not touching text and in some other leaves, browning, occasional waterstaining).
