The 18th and 19th Century Paintings and Sculptures Auction, in programme 19 december 2023, includes more than 150 works of art, an extremely impressive insight into the artistic production between the two centuries.
Among the most sought after names in the market is Angelo Morbelli, of whom there are two works in the catalogue: the glimpse of "Monte Lera" (€ 3,500 - 3,800); and one of his most moving pieces, “Ritorno alla stalla", famous realist painting set in the Monferrato hills (€ 8,000 - 12,000).

Two astonishing venetian scenes are featured inside the catalogue: a large painting by Achille Befani Formis, “Pellestrina”, portraying a working day at the island (€ 8,500 - 9,000); and “Notturno”, by Ettore Tito, a captivating dance of fishermen at sunset, exhibited at the 1930 Biennial (€ 13,000 - 15,000).
The rediscovery of an artwork by Arturo Nathan, a painter from Trieste, is worth highlighting: “L’onda” (€ 25,000 - 30,000), which was published in the author’s monograph but was considered to be long lost. An enigmatic painting, somewhere between seascape and psychic, that represents a further step towards rediscovering a painter with a strong emotional impact.
