Over 150 artworks will be presented next June 21 for the upcoming 19th and 20th Century Paintings and Sculptures’ auction at Il Ponte Auction House.
A catalogue that traces phases of technical experimentation and iconographic revolution, with unpublished works by famous masters of the period and lesser-known artists with great potential.
Specimens that have never appeared in the auction market are revealed thanks to the constant and meticulous research by the experts, such as the terracotta "Ritratto di bambino" by Medardo Rosso (lot 152, estimate €55,000 - 60,000), a unique artwork published in the "Catalogo Ragionato" of the artist and preserved to this day in a private collection.

A marvellous discovery is the oil study by the pointillist Emilio Longoni, "Mattino. Primavera" of 1899 (lot 151, estimate € 22,000 - 23,000), preparatory to the better known definitive version of the painting made in the same year.
The studio bears witness to the symbolist effects which influenced the painter from Barlassina, making him one of the greatest masters of the pictorial movement.

Also the unprecedented landscape view by Angelo Morbelli, "Angolo di giardino" from 1909 (lot 150, estimate € 8,000 - 12,000), it is proposed as an example of a different approach to the pointillist technique, as well as an icon of one of the artist's most beloved subjects: the garden of the Villa Maria at the Colma of Rosignano Monferrato, the Morbelli family's preferred summer residence.
