Jewels in 3B: Bulgari, Marina Bulgari and Buccellati

Auction Preview | Press Release | Published on 07/05/2024

In the refined context of the auction of Important Jewels on May 30th and 31st, 2024, three major Italian maisons stand out: Bulgari, MarinaB, and Buccellati.

These names evoke timeless elegance, international prestige, and illuminate the catalogue with their most exclusive and sought-after creations.

From Greece to Rome, the fascinating saga of the Bulgari maison reveals a strong connection with classical antiquity. Dating back to its founder Sotirios' move to the "eternal city" in 1884, its rich archaeological heritage soon became an endless source of inspiration for generations to come. This is evidenced by iconic pieces from the "Monete" series: one of the brand's most representative series, created by Sotirio's nephew Nicola around the 1960s, drawing inspiration from late Roman production.

Clear examples include a long chain with eight "Carlini" in silver from Roberto d'Angiò 1309 - 1343 (lot 716, € 70,000 - € 120,000), the tubogas collier with four "Statere di Corinto" (lot 728, € 70,000 - € 120,000), and the gold and diamond collier holding a pendant with a "Syracuse" coin: a unique piece commissioned (lot 729, € 60,000 - € 80,000).
