On 29 and 30 November 2022, Il Ponte's long-awaited appointment with the Modern and Contemporary Art


returns with a catalogue rich in proposals by national and international artists as well as competitive starting estimates. A first and significant space belongs to the great protagonists of the early 20th-century Italian painting, in which two works from the prestigious exhibition curriculum stand out: the “Contemplazione (Tramonto)” by Scipione from 1928 (lot 15, estimate € 25,000 - 35,000) and the museum oil by Fausto Pirandello from 1939, exhibited at the 22nd International Exhibition of Venice (lot 19, estimate € 50,000 - 70,000). These are followed by Giorgio de Chirico's enigmatic metaphysical oil entitled “I bagni misteriosi” from 1960 ca. (lot 25, estimate € 80,000 - 120,000).

Two historically very important finds by Ottone Rosai, both executed in 1920 (lot 11, estimate € 10,000 - 15,000; lot 18, € 10,000 - 15,000) are also present in the catalogue.

Innovation, dynamism and chaos, all characterise the section dedicated to Futurism, with the great canvas by Giacomo Balla  “Linea di velocità + luce” from 1925 (lot 13, estimate € 150,000 - 200,000), a spinning dancer by Fortunato Depero from around 1917 (lot 7, estimate € 30,000 - 50,000), "Donna + Caffè Parigi" by Roberto Marcello Baldessari of 1918-19 (lot 10, estimate € 25,000 - 35,000), an oil by Fillia from 1931 (lot 1, estimate € 6,000 - 8,000) and two paintings by Enrico Prampolini: “Velocissimo” from 1943 and “In volo” from 1942 (lot 6, estimate € 4,000 - 6,000; lot 2, € 4,000 - 6,000).

Also to underline, an exceptional "futurist" Bruno Munari with a work of particular historical interest "Auto in corsa" made in 1930-1935 (lot 8, estimate € 30,000 - 40,000)

Extraordinary in quality is the collection dedicated to the national and international informal current, retraced through excellences such as the Sam Francis of 1956/1958 (lot 77, estimate € 50,000 - 70,000), "Combustione plastica" by Alberto Burri made in 1961 (lot 80, estimate € 250,000 - 350,000), the 1952 oil on canvas by Hans Hartung from the illustrious provenance of the Beyeler Gallery in Basel (lot 78, estimate € 150,000 - 200,000), Jean Fautrier (lot 81, estimate € 80.000  - 120.000), Antonio Sanfilippo (lot 67, estimate € 15,000 - 20,000) and a large canvas by Carla Accardi from 1963, exhibited at the 1993 Venice Biennale (lot 68, estimate € 100,000 - 150,000).

On the top of concrete art is the magnificent "Homage to the Square" by Josef Albers from 1964 (lot 71, estimate € 100,000 - 150,000).

While gazing at the Italian pop art and conceptual art is the nucleus of works from an important Italian private collection, with six works by Alighiero Boetti. We also find a “Linea” by Piero Manzoni (lot 108, estimate € 80,000 - 120,000) and a large landscape by Mario Schifano (lot 96, estimate € 50,000 - 70,000).

The auction will continue on November 30 with the second session which offers over 200 works by national and international artists.
