On 23 and 24 May 2023, the eagerly awaited appointment with the Modern and Contemporary Art returns,
with a catalogue always animated by historical works by national and international artists with particularly interesting estimates and starting prices. An initial and significant space is reserved for the collection of works from the early 20th century in Italy.
These include the extremely rare still life “Bottiglie e tazza” with its futurist cube character executed by Ardengo Soffici in 1914 (lot 8, estimate € 35,000 - 45,000), Aroldo Bonzagni's masterpiece 'Danzatrice (Moti del ventre)' of 1911 - 12 (lot 19, estimate € 35,000 - 50,000) with a rich exhibition history. Two works by Alberto Martini, a symbolist master increasingly sought after by Italian and foreign collectors, also stand out.

In the section dedicated to Futurism, there is Prampolini's oil painting “Giocatori di calcio” from 1941 (lot 13, estimate € 30,000 - 50,000), Depero's “Ali italiane” from 1935-36 (lot 12, estimate € 40,000 - 60,000), Tullio Crali's “Forme Cosmiche” from 1932 (lot 10, estimate € 4,000 - 6,000) and a thundering painting by Anselmo Bucci “Il Fuoco” from 1940 (lot 9, estimate € 7,000 - 9,000).
Aficionados will also find an oil painting by Giorgio de Chirico “Cavaliere sulla spiaggia” from 1929 (lot 21, estimate € 50,000 - 60,000), Massimo Campigli's “Ritratto di signora” from 1944 (lot 26, estimate € 12,000 - 18,000), a landscape by Carlo Carrà from 1959 (lot 34, estimate € 7,000 - 9,000) and a still life by Filippo de Pisis from 1926 (lot 31, estimate € 10,000 - 15,000).

The experts' proposal continues with a selected nucleus of works ranging from “Cielo per A” by Mario Schifano from 1964 (lot 85, estimate € 20,000 - 30,000), to Mimmo Rotella’s “Canforumianca” of 1963 (lot 99, estimate € 10,000 - 15,000), continuing with Salvo’s “Una sera” from 1996 (lot 72, estimate € 30,000 - 40,000) and two "Ordine e disordine" by Alighiero Boetti (lot 100 and 101, estimate € 10,000 - 15,000 each).
The catalogue also boasts numerous appearances by international artists such as Victor Vasarely, Christo, Hermann Nitsch, Roberto Matta, Manuel Mendive, Antonio Dias and Joan Mirò.

As per tradition, a prominent place is reserved for sculpture, with a work of historical importance from 1964 by Mario Ceroli, “Asso di Fiori” (lot 86, estimate € 20,000 - 30,000), already exhibited at the Galleria La Tartaruga in Rome in 1964, Lucio Fontana with the glazed terracotta “Concetto spaziale” from 1963-64 (lot 97, estimate € 60,000 - 80,000), a bronze by Marino Marini “Piccolo cavaliere” from 1944 (lot 22, estimate € 45,000 - 55,000) and a white marble by Igor Mitoraj 'Stella' from 1981 (lot 38, estimate € 60,000 - 80,000). Lastly, a splendid polychrome glazed ceramic by Fausto Melotti from 1950-51 (lot 18, estimate € 18,000 - 25,000).
