Under the base, at the centre, the marks of the Qianlong Empire (1735-1796), incised six-character sealmark (zhuanshu) within the gold square. This specimen is comparable in manufacture and style to the magnificent Hu vase, with the same marks of Qianlong and thus dated, found at the Imperial Palace of Shenyang in Manchuria and produced by the Imperial furnaces of Zhingdezhen in Jiangxi.
