This important series of volumes was published during various years and the complete work is in 22 volumes. The contributions gather the most important articles published in Europe at the time almost simultaneously and the subjects include astronomy, natural sciences, zoology, medicine, agriculture and mechanics.   12 volumes, 4to (225 x 180mm). Woodcut vignettes on titles, 89 engraved plates, many folding, some numbered (occasional light browning and foxing, the only volume which doesn't correspond to the SBN plate count is vok. XI which has 3 of 4 plates). First 9 volumes uniformly bound in contemporary marbled calf, gilt spines and speckled edges, vol. X and XI in similar bindings and vol. XII in red morocco, but all with the same 19th-century provenance (a few wormholes and other small defects). The volumes are sold as described and not subject to return. Provenance: Count of Perrone (1789-1849, exlibris; politician, patriot and military).
