Loeus, 1545.   A copy in elegant contemporary binding of this collection of Greek quotations, which preserves many fragments which would otherwise be lost, by the Swiss humanist Conrad Gesner (1516-1565) and whose first edition dates back to 1543.   8vo (170 x 101mm). Title within an elegant woodcut border, woodcut initials (title with restoration to upper and lower margins, some browning and light stains). Contemporary calf elaborately decorated in blind and black on covers, early manuscript paper used as endpapers, red edges (some rubbing and small losses, without laces). Provenance: ancient manuscript ownership inscription on title (illegible due to a restoration).
