[FAUCHET, Claude - Sébastien-Roch-Nicolas de CHAMFORT - Pierre-Louis GUINGENÉ - François-Xavier PAGÈS de VIXOUSE] - Collection Complete des Tableaux Historiques de la Révolution Française. Paris: Auber, editeur, De l'Imprimerie de Pierre Didot l'Ainé, 1802.   A magnificent publication dedicated to the French Revolution: it is the first definitive edition published after the first printed in 1798 following the fascicules already in circulation since 1791. The very fine plates engraved in copper or in aquatint contained in the first two volumes depict the most important events of the revolution; the portraits within medallions of the third volume represent the most illustrious characters; they are engraved in mezzotint style and each one is followed by a life scene of the portrayed subject. In this first edition there are 60 portraits; another 6 will then be added in the following editions.   3 volumes, folio (480 x 310mm). Half-titles, titles by Fragonard in each volume for a total of 3, first two volumes with 153 numbered plates [1-9; 1-144] and an engraved table following plate 123, third volume with 60 portraits in mezzotint style (some occasional light foxing and browning, some half-titles and initial leaves detached because of the detached covers). Contemporary calf richly decorated in gilt, spine, dentelles and edges gilt, marbled endpapers (joints reinforced, but still broken with covers detached, extremities rubbed and chipped); preserved in paper boxes internally covered in velvet (rubbed).
