BETUSSI, Giuseppe (ca.1512-1573). Il Raverta. Venezia: Gabriel Giolito di Ferrari, 1544. [LEGATO CON:] - Antonio FREGOSO (m. 1515). Dialogo di Fortuna del magnifico caualliero Antonio Phileremo Fregoso. Venezia: Nicolo d'Aristotile detto Zoppino, 1531 -   A copy with illustrious provenance with the arms of the bibliophile Michael Woodhull on front cover. The first work is in its first edition and it is a dialogue centered on the theme of love written by Giovanni Betussi, humanist and polygrapher, main translator of the Latin works of Boccaccio and close friend of Pietro Aretino. Published when the author was only twenty years old, Raverta is his second work after another love dialogue published in 1543. Also interesting is the second dialogue included in the book which focuses on fortune.   2 works in one volume, 8vo (152 x 99mm). Printer's device on titles and at the end of the two works, woodcut initials, with final blank (second title with ink drawing and small stain, few spots, D8 with minimal marginal repaired tear, some light dampstaining in second work, tiny wormtrack to lower margin of final leaves). Elegant 18th-century calf with the arms of Woodhull in gilt on the front cover and a lion on rear cover, titles on red and green labels on spine, decorated dentelles (minor rubbing). Provenance: Michael Woodhull (1740-1816; scholar and bibliophile, binding).
