Milan: Ricordi, [ca.1914].   A very good copy of this internationally renown collection of posters printed by Officine Ricordi between 1895 and 1914 and executed by the masters of advertising illustration of the time such as Dudovich, Mazza, Beltrame, Mellikovitch etc. The set consisted of 70 small lithographic plates of Ricordi's greatest posters printed between 1895 and 1914. It was sold commercially in Italy, England, Germany, France and the United States. Much like the famous "Masters of the Poster" series created by Chéret in Paris, this portfolio celebrated the rise of the poster - which in Italy was almost singlehandedly accomplished by Ricordi" (www.internationalposter.com).   Oblong folio (265 x 360mm). 70 plates illustrating posters in very good conditions, the scarce 4 pages of text often missing (very minor sporadic stains). Contemporary editorial paper case with title on front cover on art nouvea style label and price label on back "prezzo di vendita L. 25", original ties (one other the original ties lightly worn, minimal rubbing to extremities).
