CAPRA, Alessandro (n. 1620) - La nuova architettura civile e militare. Cremona: Pietro Ricchini, 1717.   A fine wide margined copy in contemporary boards of this richly illustrated work on architecture. The first volume deals with civil architecture from various points of view: we find elements of agriculture and mechanics, with the representation of the related machines and tools. The second instead deals with military architecture and the construction of fortresses, with a focus on Cremona's.   2 parts in one volume, 4to (245 x 190mm). Woodcut initials, head-and-tail pieces and decorations, woodcut portraits of the author, additional titles with architectural border at the beginning of each book, numerous woodcut illustrations, 7 woodcut folding plates (plate 6 with small tears not touching the engraving, some light spotting, foxing and browning). Contemporary boards, manuscript titles on spine and front cover, marbled edges (light wear). Provenance: Ruggero Taglietti (bookplate on the front endpaper).
